Booking a hair loss consultation?
Here's exactly what to expect before, during, and after you sit down with our investigative team — no guesswork required.
A hair loss consultation should feel like the start of an answer, not another dead end. At Texas Hair Restoration & Wellness Center, a consultation with Trichologist Dr. Leola Anifowoshe, PhD is the first real conversation many people have had about their hair in years — one where someone actually asks questions and listens to the whole story before offering an opinion.
We offer three ways to begin, depending on how ready you are and how much detail you want up front. Some clients start with a quick phone call just to ask general questions. Others prefer to jump straight into a longer Zoom conversation from home. And many Houston-area clients come in person for a full hands-on investigation from day one.
Start where you're comfortable.
Not sure which one fits? Start with the free call — we'll tell you honestly where to begin.

What to bring
You don't need to prepare a dossier, but a little groundwork helps us move faster. If you have them, bring a list of current medications and supplements, any recent bloodwork or lab results, and a rough timeline of when you first noticed shedding, thinning, or texture changes. Photos of your hair from six to twelve months ago — even casual phone photos — are often more revealing than people expect, since they let us compare density and pattern over time rather than relying on memory alone.
It also helps to think through your recent life: new medications, major stress, postpartum changes, weight fluctuations, dietary shifts, or new styling routines can all matter. You don't need to draw conclusions yourself — that's our job — just come ready to talk honestly about what's been going on.

What actually happens in the room.
A consultation isn't a sales pitch — it's an investigation kickoff. We spend real time on your history, examine your scalp and hair closely, and talk through what we're seeing in plain language as we go.
- A full history: health, hormones, stress, styling, and family patterns
- A close scalp and hair examination, often with digital imaging
- Findings explained in plain English, not medical jargon
- A clear next step — a plan, a referral, or both
What happens after
After your consultation, you'll receive a summary of what we found and a personalized plan built around your specific situation — not a generic protocol. If your case looks like it may benefit from medical evaluation, we'll say so directly and help point you toward the right physician. Our holistic trichology evaluations investigate potential contributors to hair and scalp concerns and complement the care of licensed healthcare professionals when medical evaluation or treatment is appropriate.
Not sure a consultation is the right first move yet? Our hair thinning evaluation page and scalp analysis page walk through what each of those specific assessments involve. You can also read about the difference between a hair loss doctor and a trichologist, or learn what a trichologist actually is. Houston-area readers can find directions and hours on our Houston hair loss clinic page, or learn more about working with a Houston hair loss specialist. When you're ready, you can also book directly, explore our investigation process, browse client results, or read more on our blog.
